Leticia Mendoza-Cabantug

During her accounting career, Letty worked the longest at Trans Express in the US -  15 years. When interviewed for the job, the owner asked her: “Say in a single statement about yourself that will make me hire you”. Letty’s response: “I cannot steal a single cent”. Letty was hired on same day! Who among us can face our God and give Him the same answer? Letty’s consistent faith and love for God has sustained her during her life’s ups and downs. “One should not never worry because He provides (Matthew 6:33-34), she says.

Prior to her leaving for the US for her second career, Letty worked as General Accounting Asst. at Bell Hobart Manufacturing, Inc. in 1976. It was the same year she passed the Philippine CPA Board Exams which she was fully prepared for, having graduated Cum Laude B.S.C. Accounting from the Polytechnic Univ. of the Philippines. She later moved to the Commission on Audit (COA) as a State Auditor assigned at the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in 1978, heading a division of auditors to do financial, compliance, performance and fraud audits. She was recommended to become the Chief Accountant of the PCA in 1990. She had 12 years of experience in the COA as Chief Accountant, but her refusal to turn a blind eye on the six (6) contracts worth millions of pesos that she did not like to approve, was the turning point in her Philippine government career. Those contracts were irregular and in violation of government rules and regulations. Serious threats on Letty followed, making her and her husband make the decision to migrate to the US, leaving on July 2, 1993.

In a little over 6 months, on Feb. 16, 1994, she was hired as a full charge accountant by Positive Perspective Corp. which sponsored her immigration visa. She worked there for 8 years, and then moved to Johnson Mcclean Tehcnologies, for less than 4 years. Finally, Trans Express, where she retired in 2021.  Letty looks forward to new challenges ahead, with no worries, as God will always be there to guide her.
