Aurora Lacson-Cabanza
From humble beginnings, Aurora “Au” dreamt of finishing her studies and be successful. She has accomplished that.
Au graduated from San Matias Elementary School (SMES) in 1966. She said she was lucky to have Isabelita Manalastas, Rosa Figueroa, and Leticia Mendoza as her classmates, as they were the best students in their batch. Au continues to be an active member and officer of SMES Batch ’66 Reunion.
This active participation of her elementary class reunion activities continued after she graduated from Jose Abad Santos High School (JASHS) in 1970. She was one of the Board of Directors (BOD) of JASHS Batch ’70 Alumni Association, under the past Presidents Elena Tesoro and Dan Galang.
Au is a licensed chemical engineer. She graduated from the University of Sto. Tomas, the oldest Catholic university in the Philippines, B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Again, she was lucky to have one of the most successful and richest businessmen in the Philippines, Mr. Tony Tan Caktiong, and his wife, as her classmates. She continues to have contact with them occasionally. Mr. Caktiong is the CEO of Jollibee Foods Corporation. Au continues to also be in contact with her small university group doing outreach activities.
On her personal life, Au was happily married with four (4) children, but is now a widow. She has two (2) beautiful granddaughters.
Au is an active member and leader of couples for Christ for the past twenty seven (27) years. She says, “I praise and thank God for the very beautiful and meaningful life He has given to me all these years”.
