Who we are

We are the graduates of JASHS Batch ’70, meet at least once a year for our grand reunion, to continue to be in touch with each other, enjoy our camaraderie, share the blessings of partaking of food and drinks together, dance, and even do Maritess-an. We are able to hold this yearly gathering, and even do some worthy projects in between, in the name of our alumni association, thanks to the generosity of many people, even companies, but mostly from donations from the alumni themselves.

It has been an informal association, as far as we can gather, with no confirmed By-Laws and Constitution, but this did not stop past officers to continue doing good, and keeping the flame burning. Some challenges will naturally always come in the way of any organization or association, but whatever they are, they will not be insurmountable, for as long as we keep the spirit of love and caring for each other, and continue the fun we have always had, at least once a year, for the remaining years of our lives on this earth.

From Left to Right: Alma Pineda-Legaspi; Hedino T. Canlas; Maria Cristina Canlas Mole; Algeria Espinosa-Larano; Amado P. Bais; Danilo V. Galang; Irineo M. Bundalian; Raquiel Tiongson Salonga; Fidel P. Intal; Romeo S. Rodriguez.

We salute our PAST PRESIDENTS, for starting the yearly gathering, and thank them with all our hearts:

Message from The President

Dear JASHS Batch ’70 Batch Mates,

Thank you for the trust that you have given to me, to become the President of our Alumni Association for the years 2024-2026. I declined the honor and the big responsibility that comes with it, when the nomination was made during our Feb. 24, 2024 reunion at Otel Pampanga. There was even a sweetener offered by outgoing President Dan – I will have a free hand to choose my own Board of Directors (BOD). I finally accepted the challenge, after our dear Sr. Carmelita Perez, Medical Mission Sister, promised she will pray for the success of my Presidency. I went to the stage, took the microphone and said, “O iyan, ustung mig-fail ku, kasalanan ng Ma’am (to the laughter of the reunionistas).

Frankly, I needed both, otherwise it will be very difficult to perform. I needed to have a team for which I will be most comfortable working with, and who have the same vision as I have, AND, I needed all the prayers I could get. We know everyone wants to fulfill the silent wishes of our hearts. We all know what it is. Sabi ng Sr./Ma’am Perez – “Ikamu ing makagawa, Lita, so tanggapan mu ne”. Maybe not the exact words, including what I have also previously quoted above, but we all know what that meant, as a most important responsibility on the shoulders of the incoming BOD.

We are all in our 70’s now. We are most thankful to our Lord God above that we have reached this ripe age, and are still healthy and can dance again to our hearts’ content during our planned Feb. 22, 2025 grand reunion! We know we are already in a queue to the Pearly Gates, but we continue to hope beyond hope that we will be at the very last of the line. Meantime, we go on our lives, and enjoy what we can, of our remaining years.

I want to end my message, with a good Bible verse: Matthew 6:14 (NIV)

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”.

I also like what the Bible says in Proverbs 28:13 (TLB):

“A person who refuses to admit his/her mistakes can never be successful. But if that person confesses and forsakes those mistakes, another chance is given.”

LET’S ALL HAVE A FRESH START, FOR THE GREATER GOOD!

LUID YA IN JASHS BATCH ’70 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION!
